One Devonshire Gardens is set in a tree-lined terrace, in a series of converted Victorian town houses which were originally built in 1886 for wealthy Glasgow ship merchants. It is winner of Conde Nast Johansen’s "Most Excellent City Hotel in the UK 2005" and was voted "Glasgow Hotel of the Year 2005" at the Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards 2005. George Clooney, Michael Jackson, Luciano Pavarotti, Elizabeth Taylor and Leonard Bernstein are just a few of the celebrity guests it has played host to over the years. The public areas of the hotel reflect the grandeur of a bygone era. Large comfortable sofas, soft lighting and roaring fires all contribute to an atmosphere in which you can’t help but relax. All 35 guestrooms are individually designed and finished to the highest possible standard, with mahogany furnishings and flowing draperies, ensuring that guests enjoy the finest comforts and the ultimate in relaxation. Amongst many other amenities, they feature double size beds, walk-in showers and comfortable armchairs. The hotel’s fine dining No5 Restaurant is situated in the intimate and relaxed surroundings of House 5, and offers contemporary British cuisine with European influences. There is a strong emphasis on using the best of natural Scottish produce complemented with an interesting wine cellar. Pre-dinner drinks can be enjoyed in the comfort of The Drawing Room, where canapés will be served on arrival and guests can return after dinner for coffee. In addition to all this the hotel boasts a private walled garden and a residents-only gym. Guests can request a personal trainer or qualified Ashtanga yoga instructor.
